What time is Sonic Happy Hour?
When is Happy Hour at Sonic? 2 to 4 PM daily, local time, including weekends, at participating locations. That 2 to 4 PM window is the traditional window, and it is when 1/2 price drinks apply on the lot. Sonic's own site does not publish a Happy Hour time today, so check your local drive-in before you go. One store advertised 2 to 5 PM, so a local time can be different. Some pages say Monday to Thursday only. The traditional window is daily, including weekends, at participating locations. Most locations keep regular hours on standard holidays, and some close early, so check before you go on a holiday.

What is not half price?
These are not half price from 2 to 4 PM. Mini size is excluded. Ice Cream Slushes are excluded, and that includes Cream Slushes. A Medium Blue Coconut Cream Slush has 630 calories, a Medium Cherry Cream Slush has 580 calories, and a Medium Strawberry Cream Slush has 690 calories, against 240 calories for a plain Medium Slush, so check whether your Cream Slush is excluded before you order it.
Shakes and Blasts are not half price from 2 to 4 PM. Cold Brew and coffee are not half price. Water and energy drinks are not half price. Food is not half price. A drink inside a Combo is not half price. A drink inside a Wacky Pack Kids Meal is not half price. Milk is not in the included list.

App vs drive-in
On the lot, 2 to 4 PM needs no app. Go to a stall or the drive-thru between 2 and 4 PM, order an included drink in Small, Medium, Large, or Route 44, and the half price applies at participating locations.
In the app, the half price reward is now for Legend members only. Sonic Rewards launched April 6, 2026. Legend status needs 30 visits in a year. Legend members earn 12 points for every $1. Star status needs 10 visits in a year and earns 11 points for every $1.
Sonic's own pages do not agree on the app. The Rewards FAQ says the 1/2 Price Drinks And Slushes reward is now exclusive to Legend members. The store pages sampled in Dallas, Oklahoma City, Orlando, and St. Louis carry the same line, half price drinks and slushes any time, with no Legend condition. That line is the same on every store page, so check your app Deals tab before you order, because what you see depends on your tier and your location.
When you order ahead in the app, the discount applies when you place and pay for the order, not at your pickup time. The app does not change the lot time, 2 to 4 PM. It changes who can get the reward outside that time, and that is now Legend members only.

Half price does not mean the same price everywhere. A Slush that is $1.20 at one Sonic can be $1.70 at another, because the regular price was $2.39 at the first and $3.39 at the second. Sonic drive-ins are mostly franchised, and operators set local prices. Go big on size, because half off a Route 44 saves more dollars than half off a Small, and Mini is excluded.
Snacky Hour, the $1 hour, separate
Snacky Hour is a separate offer, not part of Happy Hour. It is 2 to 5 PM daily, $1 each, for a Corn Dog, 2 piece Mozzarella Sticks, and a Soft Pretzel Twist. It launched in August 2025 as a limited time offer. Its current status in November 2026 is not confirmed, so check before you go. Do not count the $1 snacks as Happy Hour items.
A later $2 Snacks offer also ran 2 to 5 PM, for rewards members, app or online only, through November 1, 2026, with 5 items: Corn Dog, small Mozzarella Sticks, small Tots, small Premium Chicken Bites, and small Groovy Fries, 1 per day per member. That offer ended November 1, 2026, and is not current on November 7, 2026.
The $1.99 Menu is separate, all day, every day. It includes Jr Bacon Cheeseburger, Garlic Parmesan Ranch Crispy Tender Wrap, Cheesy Baja Crispy Tender Wrap, Vanilla Soft Serve Cup, and Small Root Beer Float. The $7 Big Deal Meal is also separate, all day.
Tuesday Family Night, separate
Tuesday Family Night is separate from Happy Hour. On Tuesdays after 5 PM, single-patty SONIC Cheeseburgers are half price when you order online or in the SONIC App as a registered user. The discount applies automatically. Add-ons cost extra. It is not valid with Combos, delivery, or any other offers. Mobile ordering is available only at select locations, and hours may vary. Check the app on Tuesday before you go.
Half price shakes at Sonic

- Go between 2 and 4 PM to a stall or the drive-thru at a participating location.
- Order an included drink in Small, Medium, Large, or Route 44. No code to type.
- Check the price before you pay. In the app, order ahead and the discount applies when you place and pay, not at pickup time. Check the app Deals tab first, because the app reward is now for Legend members only.
Before you go, check your store first. Open the Sonic app, turn on location services, and open the Deals tab. It shows what is available at your nearest drive-in, and what your tier can use. You can also use the store locator on sonicdrivein.com to find your nearest drive-in, then ask at the stall or drive-thru before you order. You can also check Google Maps, or call the store.
Best time to go: arrive a few minutes early. The first part of the window is quietest, stalls fill up closer to 4 PM, and the deal ends at 4 PM. Try a new flavour at half price, because add-ins cost extra.
Why the discount did not apply
The discount did not apply if you ordered a Mini size, an Ice Cream Slush or a Cream Slush, a shake or food in the same offer, or a drink inside a Combo or a Wacky Pack. It did not apply if your store does not take part, or if you ordered outside 2 to 4 PM. It did not apply if a conflicting coupon or promotion was already applied, or if the offer had expired. In the app, it did not apply if the reward needs Legend status and you are not a Legend member. Users have also reported one discount per order, with no stacking. Check your receipt before you pay, and check the app Deals tab for what your tier can use today.
